Cheeba.com, which calls itself “the medical marijuana industry’s first and only cannabis-based search engine and advertising platform,” on Monday launched a Google Maps-type listing system for dispensaries, marijuana doctors, and smoke shops.
The new marijuana mapping system is the cannabis equivalent of Google Maps. When a user searches for dispensaries and collectives, doctors, lawyers, head shops or any other type of marijuana-related business, local business listings are displayed on a map based on the actual search criteria as well as the user’s IP address.
The search platform at Cheeba.com
now integrates sponsored listings from PotLocator.com
directly into Cheeba and gives canna-businesses a free, realtime advertising portal via access to its official Twitter page, according to Jason Draizin, chairman and CEO of parent company the Medical Cannabis Network (MCN).
“We’re following the best practices in the online search space to create the most comprehensive and user-friendly marijuana search engine that also offers innovative advertising opportunities for businesses looking to target the worldwide cannabis community,” Draizin said. “By featuring the latest coupons from PotLocator.com and giving our advertisers exclusive free access to our Cheeba Twitter account, collectives and other cannabis-based businesses can deliver the latest deals to our patient base.”
Alongside the map, users are now presented with featured listings that showcase the latest deals and coupons from PotLocator, MCN’s premier weed dispensary mapping site. In fact, PotLocator is now fully integrated into Cheeba.
Cheeba search results for dispensaries and collectives will show the top three featured listings from PotLocator for any given are, along with coupons that are fully customizable by each respective dispensary. PotLocator’s featured listings will also appear first on Cheeba’s marijuana mapping system with icons that include direct links back to their PotLocator profiles.
Upon trying out the Cheeba/PotLocator integration by searching for local shops (see above), I found that more shops are needed in the database, as my “top three” local listings were three listings for the same Seattle dispensary:Â Conscious Care Cooperative
‘s Ballard location
, even though CCC’s Aurora location is closer. Of course, it’s very early yet; I hope more shops will be added to the listings soon, as it’s a little frustrating to see just one shop when you know there are hundreds.
Users can also access the latest deals and coupons through Cheeba’s Twitter feed, which is integrated into the search engine and can be updated with deals from any cannabis-based business. To show up on Cheeba.com’s homepage Twitter feed, businesses can use the Twitter hashtag #cheeba and follow @CheebaDotCom
Those who follow CheebaDotCom AND use the #cheeba hashtag will also get retweeted in MCN’s effort to give businesses more ways to reach out to the cannabis community.
“These changes are part of our ongoing goal to create a valuable resource for patients and to offer the most innovative, affordable and effective solutions for our advertisers,” Draizin said. “The new featured listings on Cheeba allow us to offer even more prominent ad space to our sponsored listings from PotLocator.com at no extra cost. And the Twitter feed not only gives canna businesses a free advertising portal, but it gives them exclusive access to patients searching on Cheeba, about cheeba, for cheeba, in real time.”
